My first amigurumi... w00T
Aug. 24th, 2007 08:49 pmOkay, so I bet all of you all can do this with your eyes closed but I made my first ever crochet project tonight using Ana Paula's Pablito the Penguin pattern that she has free on her blog.
I modified it basically out of necessity since I had no black yarn. I put some tufts at the top to hide some rather loose stitches and I added some top sticthing with embroidery floss to make the feet look better since I had no clue what I was doing with the half double crochet stitch but I know I did it wrong!!!!
We were all pretty pleased though. "We" being my cats, husband and I. Because even if it's kinda messed up, cute things are still cute and they make you smile. My advice is don't be afraid to try it. They're quick to make but rather satisfying when you're done. And everyone knows someone with a little kid who'd like it if you don't want them cluttering your house (or your fruit bowl.)
