Pagan rosary
Sep. 4th, 2007 04:36 pmHello craft grrls and boys! I'm Wren and this here is my first official craftgrrl post - Woot!
I stumbled upon the book Pagan Prayer Beads in a local bookstore-- which finally kicked the serious craft-block I'd been having in the ass. =P Inspired both by the Seattle weather (which has been feeling decidedly autumn-like since August) and the seriously stressful bad vibes at work, I made a Pagan rosary...

The "artsy" pic! My main rosary draped over my shell full of crystals and assorted rocks. (sorry it's huge, but it shows the detail really well)

Both my rosary and mini bracelet version, starring my chubby little kid hands!

Another of the set, plus a smudge stick and the uber sparkly quartz point I got at the Saturday Market in Portland, OR a couple of weekends ago.
The main rosary is made from nine sets of three pyrite beads (a good shielding stone) and autumn-colored glass leaves and seed bead spacers. The pendant is a jasper or agate leaf (my mommy gave it to me years ago, am thinking it's jasper though) with an old agate bead (for courage), and a faceted smokey quartz at the top (to dispel negativity), strung on black silk beading cord. The bracelet mini-rosary is made from three sets of three pyrite beads, four glass leaves for the four elements (earth, air, fire, water), glass seed bead spacers, and two wee smokey quartz beads on either side of the clasp, ending with nine seed beads each, strung on tiger tail.
It's nice to have something solid to keep in my pocket close to me when I'd rather be screaming and smacking annoying co-workers upside the head. =P
