costume help

Hey yall. I was interested in making

this year. I need to make it because I am chubby and this costume literally would fit a junior size 0 or a girls 14-16. I know this because I work at a party store, and for the last three years I have been taunted by not being able to wear this costume! So I got a slightly lighter gray fabric at joanns for the main part, but what I need suggestions on now is the fabric for the cross and the fabic for the belt/sash thing. For the cross I am thinking some kind of vinyl but I'm not sure. It's kind of shimmery, but not glittery. I would only need a little bit (probably letter paper sized) and I'm not really looking to order it online since it is such a small size (i wouldnt need a yard or half yard so... The sash is made out of a material kind of like a tent so maybe some kind of nylon? Are these things they sell at joanns? Do they sell the vinyl in a sheet somewhere maybe for like little kid crafts? There is not hancock by me, but I could probably get to one if someone could tell me whether or not this is something they sell (I think there is one in massachusetts i might be able to get to, if anyone knows please tell me)

ALSO

I am looking for a pattern for boot covers. Does anyone have one? These are made from like funky fur i think and they are awesome, but the costume isnt really worth the 40-50$ just for the boot covers :-/
