black cat hat
Sep. 27th, 2007 09:02 pmI finally got around to it and made an adorable/mad black cat hat. Can't post pictures due to lack of camera, Tutorial under the cut.
BLACK CAT HAT
2 squares black felt
1 square pink felt
scissors
pins
needle and black thread, or a sewing machine
hat/ hooded top.
1) Cut four blunt triangles out of the black felt, no taller than your middle finger. Cut two smaller pink triangles.
2) Hand or machine sew one pink triangle to one black, leaving a small gap at the bottom. Repeat.
3) Place one black-and-pink triangle right side in with one plain-black one, so the edges match. Sew, leaving a small seam and the flat bottom edge open. Repeat
4) Turn inside out (you may need to use a pencil to poke it through) and stuff with cotton scraps/kapok. DON'T overstuff- it should be firm but not bulging.
5) Turn the unsewn bottom edges in, and sew along, being careful to to dislodge the stuffing. Plump up your ears.
6) Position the ears on top of the hat/ hooded top, and hand sew on, going under and through the hat. Miaow!
Good luck! You could customize your hat with coordinating buttons, ribbon or sequins.
