Two Waistbands from One T-Shirt
Oct. 15th, 2007 01:26 amThis shirt was a hand-me-down from a co-worker's daughter. It fit well, but I did some trimming of the sleeves and neckline to make it more "me". Then I took a slice of a random dark red T-shirt and made the waistband, which ties on the side.
For the skirt, I started with a lime green T-shirt with the Squirt logo on it. I had purchased the shirt in Panama for a few dollars and never really wore it because it was a little too stretchy and clingy for me. I liked the logo though, and I had a darker green T-shirt that I thought would make a nice background. I cut another piece from the dark red T-shirt and made the foldover waistband. Then I chopped the green T-shirt into 3 sections and made little pleats so it would flare out. I affixed the Squirt logo with Steam-A-Seam.
I still have sleeves, collars, and assorted scraps from the red T-shirt and the green one, just waiting to be incorporated into something new.
