Good Morning,
i...

a....
nooooob....
i must have outed myself on ten different communities today.
takes repeating yourself to a whole new level..... and i'm crossposting this to [Unknown site tag], so apologies if you get it twice. you don't have to read it twice, unless you discover that you just loooove my ferociously purplefied prose.
anyway,
i make things.
ALL KINDS of things.
i do beading, crochet, embroidery, handsewing, machine sewing, costuming, make collars, chokers, ruffs and pairs'o'bodies; make latex jewelry, regular jewelry, massive and striking headpieces of papier-maché, feathers, sticks, latex, metal mesh, you name it; pony falls, bun covers, extensions, dread falls and bands including rexlace and tubing and all sorts of fake hair; make and refinish furniture; paint, draw, sculpt, weld, solder and caulk; bind, rebind and make books from scratch; make paper from scratch; make soap in chamomile, tea tree and other scents; work leather, stitch and tool it; make funky candles, although i haven't tried the nifty gel do-it-yourself ones yet (i do have some awesome ideas for those though); agh, i can't think of anything else right now, but i bet if you have a question about something i at least have relevant experience.
except:
i don't bake, and i don't knit, and i get my potholders at Boutique le Target because le Target has fuckin' cool potholders!!!
right now i am trying to put together a group of local wimmin who also make things, because, well, i know a lot of cool wimmin who make cool things, and a lot of them don't know each other, and also a little co-motivation-slash-peer-pressure never hurts when you're trying to make yourself finish a project, right? ;D
but, not being the type who typically has a mania for organizing group activities, i have questions about the logistics of this kind of thing. anybody ever done this before?
i've got about twenty people solidly interested in weekly meetings, but i'm thinking i don't really want them to be the kind of meetings where you slave away for two hours without speaking to one another. this is more like a social-hour-show-and-tell type deal, right, so nobody needs to bring a sewing machine along with them -- just a notebook and their work so far to show (and receive ooohs and aaaah's and lots of mutual support and ideas from other crafty chicks!).
any thoughts? i need organizational input.
thanks for any help.
nice to be here!!! & c.
