crochet headband
Mar. 21st, 2003 06:41 pmso i'm on the verge of getting fired, because my place of employment is suddenly enforcing a "no more than one small earring in each ear" policy and i've got about 8 rings too many - and not the easily removable kind either. in a last ditch effort to preserve my source of income, i'm trying to come up with something i can wear under a baseball-type hat that doesn't look moronic.

i created this headband thingy to see how it would work. (if i flip it around, i can comfortably tie it over my ears and the holes allow me to hear without flashing too much metal). it doesn't really qualify in the end, because for starters it clashes with my uniform (it was a trial design, i just grabbed any yarn), and also the combination of hat + yarn is a little too hot for my job. but i really like it as a headband. it's just a little open-crochet piece with two long ties on each end (for a total of 4). really comfortable and i think it'll be handy over summer. it's so hard to find hairbands that fit (and stay on) my long head. not that you all care, but i'm excited :)
for my problem, i'll probably go out and get some cheap fabric this weekend and fashion a long narrow band to tie around my head. hopefully they'll accept it.. i like money :[
on the bright side, i did learn that the coolest crochet cord ever can be made by chaining a long chain and slip-stitching all the way down it. so simple, but so fascinating!
