Kool Aid dyes

I forgot to buy RIT dye today (on sale at JoAnn until tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I had wanted to tie dye some of my ugly white cotton underpants, and I wonder if Kool Aid would do the job, perhaps even a better job than RIT. I have a rough idea of how to do it, based on instructions for dyeing cotton yarn. Do you think such a dye job can survive the kind of laundry schedule that undies tend to have? And does anyone have a good set of Kool Aid dye instrictions? I'd like to see a few different methods.
