Follow the yellow brick road......
This year at the 9th hour I decided to dress as The wicked witch of the west, Elphaba,

with my companion being the great and powerful Oz.

They're actually in cahoots you know......

And since the pictures of our ensembles are so very dark, since they were taken pre club at night in our bad hallway lighting......

3 layers of black skirts, with an older corset I made of black vinyl that got treated with a light coating of iridescent green powder to bring out the croc texture (I have since gotten much better with my corsets, but it's not too bad for one of my earlier ones). Plain lace blouse, center emerald cameo made of a sculpy base with green acrylic gems. Red velvet cincher bag I made a long long time ago to go with another corset, and red ruby slippers (that I recently received as a gift which was the inspiration for the whole costume) that got the insides glittered, holes punched in the heels and strung on some decorative red rope.

The only thing aside from the cameo and the mods to the shoes I actually made expressly for my costume. A smaller brimmed indoor witch hat. Grey tapestry fabric with black lace overlay. Black chiffon band tied in a floopy back bow (This is just temporary as I'll be replacing it with a red velvet band with rhinestone buckle for my more regular everyday wear)

The great OZ's costume.
The OZ plaque is more sculpey with green seed bead accents hung on a gold chain cobbled together from various leftovers (we figured OZ was a charlatan anyway so it was appropriate. This was my mate's creation)
Large emerald FOB made of a green acrylic bead.
Worn over a plain dress shirt, the first vest I ever made my man (with hand sewn buttonholes and everything!) a purple and green dupioni silk bowtie (also my first), and the very first of my 'Vincent' line of men's cloaks. In a mustard brown and brown oversized hounds tooth wool with brown courderoy accents.

Thrown together yesterday afternoon while watching 'Wizard of OZ' and 'Return to OZ' for inspiration.

That's all for now folks!
