Camping crafty
Nov. 10th, 2007 12:30 amSo I dunno if you grrrls will find this crafty or not but I think so.
The story is I like camping, but I'm broke but crafty.
REI sells headlamps (for those not into the out doors think miner type flashlights but without the hard hat) they sell them from the cheapest on sale model at $15.93 to $87. while in the REI I noticed a cheap sorta elastic thing for putting small flashlights in that they were selling for something like $11 (I can't find it on the website to check the price)
Also stoves are expensive. Most fuels have lots of waste. The best fuel is denatured alcohol. it burns clean. The alcohol burning stoves on the REI website are $29.95 and $32.95.
So what's a poor girl to do?
Elastic flashlight holder for handless illumination.

I made a cat cat stove using these directions: http://www.royrobinson.homestead.com/Cat_Stove.html
basically with a few changes.

The pieces shown here separate.

The Flame!

Boiling hot cocoa!
And the best bit is the stove even lit again after I dumped the hot cocoa all in it. go me!
