Crochet crazy!
Nov. 14th, 2007 12:18 pmOkay, not quite crazy yet, but I'm getting there.
Anyway, brief version of the back story: a friend taught me to crochet almost 2 years ago, but all I could do was chain, single and half-double crochet. Doesn't get you too far. So I bought my new favorite book, Stitch 'N Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker a couple of weeks ago, and I've been working hard at making things. I apologize in advance for the not-so-great pictures -- I did them on my way out the door this morning, and we had terrible light due to the front in the area.

I made my first hat! It's for my grandmother. Here's a really unflattering shots of me modeling it:

I promise I do have hair.

And here's the one that should really embarrass me. I intended to make a snowflake ornament for our three-foot-tall Christmas tree. This came out huge! Basically it's a doily. I'm 23, and I made a freakin' doily. And it gets worse: I love it! I'm not ashamed. Anyway, this one will go to my mom (once I iron it, of course, and add a few beads) to hang in her window. I made the next one for our tree.

It's about two-inches in diameter versus the nearly-a-foot length of the other one.
Here are the patterns I used if anyone's interested: hat, large snowflake, small snowflake.
Thanks for looking, and thanks to all the crocheters who post all their neat stuff. You inspired me to relearn to crochet. :)
