What a great person!
Nov. 14th, 2007 07:39 pmRemember my Rough Looking Frosty? Well, I found the name of the designer, and I Googled her name, and she has a website. I emailed her, asking for advice on working with the Celluclay.
Well, amazingly, graciously, she now only wrote me back, she sent me her phone number, because she found it easier to explain it that way than writing it down! She actually uses a crumpled up ball of newspaper, not a styrofoam ball as the magazine indicated, to make her shape. However BH&G wanted something consistent, that's why they up in using a styrofoam ball for the instructions.
She recommended (as some of you did), working with damp fingers. She has something akin to a potter's wheel to work on, so once she's applied the initial coat, she doesn't have to touch the main body. She uses a palette knife, and applies a good inch of the stuff rather than the 1/2 inch the magazine recommended.
So everyone go check out Johanna Parker's website! She's a great person! And just so there's no pictures, here's frosty
