decorating a burned CD

I was wondering if you can paint a cd with acrylics and have it still be listenable? I looked in the faqs in the cd decoration thread, but the acrylic paint thing, although asked, was never answered. I really don't want to mess this CD up, so I thought I'd ask before I grabbed my paints and went to town. Help!
