I wasn't going to do Christmas Cards this year because they're time consuming and because postage is expensive.
Well, one day last week, I got into the Holiday Spirit and said "screw the time, screw the postage!"
I didn't have any money to buy cards, so I decided to make them. Even more time consuming. yay.
I looked up some methods online and discovered Wax resist. It appealed to me quite a bit.

First, I had to make the cards. I took regular sheets of cardstock, cut them in half longways, then folded them down in half to make a card. After that, I found an envelope that would be the right size, cut it open and used it as a template to make our own envelopes out of wrapping paper. Festive. (we did gold for the ones being sent in the mail, so they'd be easy to read. We did striped paper (in the top right corner in the photo above) for the people we were hand delivering to.
After that, I colored pictures on each card front (with white crayon), then did the writing with markers on the inside and back and then painted with watercolors.
Allowed them to dry, rolled them a bit (they got warped with the water colors) to straighten them and sent them on their merry way.
Unfortunately for the community, I forgot to take pictures until most of them were sealed and aleady sent out, so these ones aren't the great ones (they were mostly the failure painting that happened when I got too tired and went out to the obligatory holiday card recipients).

(looks like I tried to murder the gingerbread man. My morbid bff is getting that one)

But you get the idea.

In all, it was fun.

(a very basic and generic message inside. Whatever.)

(just for fun and lolz.)
We have to make more for my husband's co workers because we didn't do enough (seriously, you'd think almost 50 was enough).
