Hi, I am in desperate need of some really good advice!

I bought a set of unfinished wooden nesting dolls from ebay to finish for my mom for Christmas. I wanted to put penguins on them, and I haven't had much experience painting, so I went over to a friend's house to do them there. We got half way through painting them and I got a call from work so I had to run into the office for a couple minutes. When I came back, she had finished them... and I don't like them! I was going to just paint over them today but there are two spots, a huge christmas ball and a huge present, where she painted with glitter... lots and LOTS of glitter... so now it's rough and sticks out and I'm not sure how to get the stuff off! Can I scrape it off or sand it down without ruining the whole thing? They have already been sealed. What can I do to start over on the two I don't like??? Please help. Thank you!!

Any happy holidays :D
