Drop cloth rug?

craftgrrlHas anyone ever made a rug out of a drop cloth (the canvas sheets you put down when painting walls)?
I've heard about it and I'd like to try it.. but I wonder what type of paint to use. Ideally I'd love to paint the entire thing in a pale green with brush strokes (grass?) but I wonder if the paint would crack.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
