Pillow cases made for my Mom's husband for Christmas. Easy, no brainer project! I also made some for my mom's room but didn't get a picture.

Shadow box I made for my Mom for Christmas.

Lastly, my Altoids tin and the story behind it.

Two years ago, in February, I had bariatric surgery. Prior to that, I met a girl named Chele at the Weight Loss Support Group. We became fast friends and often refered to each other as Pea, because we were so alike in many things. She was also having the surgery and understood all the ins and outs and ups and downs. Anyhoo, we were tight. Really tight. Our surgeries were 2 weeks apart, even. She was my saving grace for that first post op year. The one that really understood what I was going through mentally and physically. To be honest, I don't even know what I would have done without her. Last year, she moved to Iowa and I miss her terribly so I wanted to make something special for our 2 year anniversary.

This is the full on shot. (top and bottom of the inside and charms)

The green charm is a duplicate of the key ring she gave me. It is a puzzle piece that says "best" and she kept "friend" She even mentioned them the other day, so I had to add this to my tin. This is the detail that is gonna make her cry! The piece is made of green polymer clay. (keeping the pea theme going) The other little charm is just a small out out of something that says "We are like 2 peas in a pod." and it is backed with a bubble sticker. They are attached with fuzzy yarn.
Close up of the lid.

I used a chamber of commerce booklet and found a picture of our favorite haunt. A coffee shop called Cup of Joe. We spent maaaaany hours here and it is a place that is filled with good memories. I made the little peas out of polymer clay and glazed it with Future floor polish. The little cup is a Stampin' Up stamp.
The bottom of the inside

Again, the pea theme comes into play. I used some pea fabric for the base. (Also, made her some pillow cases, not yet pictured)
She moved to Ames, Iowa so that is where I indicated her spot on the map with a green stone. I still live in Lapeer, Michigan as indicated with my green stone. (green=peas)
Stuff tucked inside, ready for travel.

And the back, another pic from the CoC booklet. It is an old picture of Lapeer, Michigan, the city that brought us together. It might look a lot like any other old town but it is distinctly Lapeer, as most of the skyline still looks the same. She will KNOW exactly what it is... I added the "good times" sticker because we say that allllllll the time and the other little things are self explainitory.

I hope it makes her as happy as it made me when I was making it for her.

Thanks for looking!
