Looking for a pattern
Jan. 10th, 2008 09:37 amSo the boyfriend and I go to Feast of The Hunter's Moon every year in the fall. A brief description from the website, "The Feast of the Hunters' Moon is a re-creation of the annual fall gathering of the French and Native Americans which took place Fort Ouiatenon, a fur-trading outpost in the mid - 1700s. It is held annually in early autumn on the banks of the Wabash River, four miles southwest of West Lafayette, Indiana."
Anyway, everyone usually gets dressed up and a few years ago his mother had a dress made for me. The thing is really more of a floral-patterned sack with arms and is possibly the MOST unflattering thing I've ever worn (oh and there is an apron too!) That being said I'm looking to make one of my own thats a little less... frumpy?
Does anyone know where I could find a pattern for a mid-low class woman's dress in mid-18th century (1730-1770) America? Is there someplace out there that does play/reenactment costuming that I'm missing?
And because you all were interested...

Chicken hats!
