Painted Headphones - Right Ear

This is pretty easy to do. I wanted a pair of colourful headphones and the only ones I knew about were made in Japan and expensive (not to mention I had no idea what the sound quality was like). So I took my old pair of Sonys and jazzed them up. My inspiration was Jack Skellington (duh) but I really dunno if they look like him. I guess I'll have to see if anyone guesses who it is off the bat. :)

Headphone Process 1- Taping

First I taped up the actual audio parts because I knew paint could ruin them.

Headphone Process 2 - Sanding

Then I used sandpaper to sand off the glossy finish on the phones. The "Sony" stayed but it's pretty unnoticeable (and I used it as a guideline anyway since I suck at making identical pictures)

Headphone Process 3- Outline

Headphone Process 3- Wet Paint

Then I painted the background, did an outline, and painted that in. You have to allow drying time for each layer but acrylic dries pretty quickly. I finished it off with some matte medium.

Painted Headphones- Left Ear

The left ear is a smile, the right ear is a frown.

The whole thing took 3 hours BUT that was a lot of trial and error. I suspect the next pair will only take me half as long. I have NOT worn these much yet (just finished them tonight) so I dunno how well they will last. I'm going to paint my new Sennheisers later this week and since those have their own case, I suspect the paint job will last longer than these.

Also, Tim Burton, if you're reading this, don't sue my ass. These are for personal use.
