Sewn slouchy beanie hat- patterns?
Feb. 11th, 2008 05:01 pmI want to make a slouchy beanie for my boyfriend- only problem, I can't knit or crochet. So I want to sew it from knit fabric, maybe using a second hand sweater or else thick sweatshirt fabric. This is the sort of shape I'm going for.
But I'm not sure how to go about drafting the pattern- whether I should make a kind of tube and sew a circle on the top, or make it from four pieces, or just two semi-circle shapes together. Here is my hopefully not totally unintelligable sketch of those three pattern ideas... dotted line showing opening of hat, crossed lines showing where the seams would be.

Can anybody give me any advice? I'll be sure to post the finished product. Thanks!
