Melty discoveries.
Feb. 24th, 2008 02:03 pm This isn't the coolest thing ever, but a fun discovery anyway--
I took some of that art glass stuff, you know, the flattened marble things that you buy to fill vases with and put in the bottom of your fishtanks? Yeah. Anyway, I had big ones and little ones and oddly shaped long-ish ones and arranged them in circles in my kiln and let them fuse. The biggest ones came out awesome and look just like flowers, the smaller round ones are coolish (you can see one in the lower right of the picture), but I was much disappointed in the oddly shaped longish ones (on the right with the square hole). I won't bother with those again. Anyway, I think I will use the big flower ones as center strikers for wind chimes. Hm. They would make pretty cute inlays for cement garden stepping stones too, decorations for faerie houses...
