Felting stuffed animals?

craftgrrlHello all! I've checked in the memories and could not find anything on this, so now I shall post it to you! When you felt something 3D (like a knitted plushie), do you stuff it and sew it up and felt it - completely finished, or felt the seperate pieces and sew/stuff, or do you sew it, leave it unstuffed, felt, and then stuff it and sew up the opening after it dries? Does this even make any sense? Can someone please be my knight in wooly armor?
