A while back, there was a video going 'round of a guy making cat toys by rolling bunches of his cat's fur into...an excessively organic shape. This generally elicited revulsion from the viewers. But, being a warped sort, I suspected that the main problem was the shape. After all, there's a fancy name for yarn made of dog fur and it's terribly expensive. Was cat fur any more disgusting? So with spring shedding season came:

The furball (with bobbin for size comparison)
It's made just like rolling clay into a ball, gently compressing and rolling until it reaches a good size and density. Voila! A lightweight, claw-permeable, natural fiber cat toy that rolls. And if that's still too disgusting, one could always use sheep fur instead.
