Apr. 1st, 2008 12:43 pmSo, I ordered a handful of really really pretty vintage-style notions and a chatelaine (a device used by Victorian women to hold onto commonly used little items that elude capture from time to time, keys, seam rippers, etc.) Very pretty little things.
They are crap.
I accidentally ordered two chatelaines, which is good. The first one had the pin clasp glued shut, and when I tried to open it, the pin fell off. The second one had a faulty clasp, which broke. I cannibalized a new clasp off the pinless one, so that was fixed. Then, the pin fell off the fixed one. I dropped the measuring tape and it popped open. The seam ripper and pincushion are fine (knock on wood.)
Thankfully, the company I ordered them from has fantastic customer service and charged back my money, not requiring me to mail them back on my dime. So, Crafts Etc. = good. I'd gladly give them more business. Vintage Impressions = touch and go at best. Damned shame, cuz they're gorgeous. I'm going to do my best to fix the chatelaine and measuring tape with some JB Weld, do it right.
