Painting on porcelain
Apr. 8th, 2008 06:32 pmI checked the memories and didn't find anything that addressed my exact question. I'd love to be able to make porcelain pendants, but don't have the time/money/space right now to take up baking my own ones, getting (and storing) a kiln/oven, etc. I'm therefore wondering if it would be possible to buy pre-made porcelain pendants like this one and then repaint them, or would I have to fire them in a kiln anyway? I don't need the paint to be super durable and withstand food and water, as I would only be doing this with ceramic jewelry, not diy tableware, but I'd like it to not flake or rub off if possible, either. Would I need a special kind of paint or something - or is the whole project just dreaming in technicolor and you can't work with porcelain/clay at all without baking it?
