Apr. 18th, 2008 02:45 pmI haven't posted in a while, so here's some stuff I've been up to lately. And before lately, several months ago...
Firstly, here's the hat I made in order to a) use up some old yarn, and b) figure out cables:

I don't know if you can really see the cable-age, but basically, it got better as it went along. You can see that I eventually worked out how to actually do cables. Also, this hat sucks because I made up the pattern as I went along, and thus it is very lumpy. Here's another picture that I tried (so badly) to tweak with some sort of photo-editing program so that you can see the cable-age better:

So. That's boring. Here's a sweater that came out far, far too big, which frustrated me greatly, because it took me ages. But alas, I have no one to blame but myself, because I am the one who knitted a gage swatch and then ignored it. Um. Yeah.

I used the pattern for Peppermint Twist from Stitch & Bitch, which is a good pattern in the hands of Normal People who don't ignore their swatches. Here's a close up of one of the Alkaline Trio logos on the arms:

It's such a shame that this came out insanly, insanely big. Too big to even wear in a cool, oversized sweater sort of way, it just looks AWFUL. Oh well...
Speaking of oversized sweaters that are meant to be oversized, here's one that took me four days because I used my mother's MegaGiantNeedles:

Ah, the old "wear sunglasses so you look like you know what you're talking about" trick...
And last but not least, an ongoing project that I've been working on since I first learned how to knit. You see, when I first learned to knit, I hadn't the slightest idea about weaving in ends. So I used to just cut the wool off. And I still do this, because before I learned to knit, I sewed, so I just tie really secure knots. Anyway, then I tie all my loose ends together and came up wtih something like this:

And the close up:

And that's that! Thanks for looking, you delightful little livejournal people!
