Recycled Fashion Show

I entered two dresses into a Recycled Fashion Show at the Art Museum in my town. There were 73 entries! I can't remember if I posted pictures of them while I was beginning work on them, so and here are some pictures of them at the fashion show. my roommate is the model in the green punk/futuristic dress, and she helped me to finish them in a rush the day of the show! we finished with literally enough time to take fast showers and get to the venue for hair and makeup! the green punkish/futuristic one - it's made out of to-go coffee-sleeves that wrap around your coffee cup. i sewed them onto a base skirt and a long-line bra and then we painted it. the back was an elaborate working of velcro in order for her to easily get in and out. and the skirt actually allowed her to sit down by pushing it up, it was collapsable! so far, the other dress is made out of a shower curtain. the sleeves and underskirt are made out of old laundry bags. i used loofah sponges for the trim, shoe bows, hair bow, and panniers underneath the dress. the little red roses are 2 liter coke labels. it was SO much fun, even though we didn't win any prizes. behind the scenes people were digging our dresses, our makeup artists even wanted a picture of herself with my roommate
