glueing playing cards?

so i'm looking for some experience here. has anyone glued paper to playing cards and not had it fall off? the playing cards are sort of plastic-y (but not the clear kind, just regulation playing cards), so that's what's stumping me. i've looked at thistothat.com but i'm wondering if anyone has done this so i can learn from their mistakes before making my own. i'm thinking rubber cement  or a spray adhesive. any other thoughts? i promise i'll have things for you to look at once classes are over :) thanks in advance :)
