what to do with these brass deer
May. 7th, 2008 09:01 ami found these cute brass deer at a garage sale. in the picture you can see before and after of polishing them (the two dark ones haven't been polished yet). the thing is, i don't like brass. i want to paint them. i'm thinking pink with white spots on their back (like fawns have).
my problem is the eyes. i want to give them doe eyes but i just don't know exactly what to do. i'm thinking black for the convex lines on the top and bottom of the eye, black for the circle and crescent inside the eye. white for the concave part around the eye. as for the concave parts above and below the "eyeliner" i think i will keep those pink, the same color as the rest of the deer.
i found a great white primer for metal (by rustoleum) and tested it on the base the deer came with (not shown) so i'm all set on the paint.

anyway, so what i need help on........any suggestions for the eyes and also how to mask them off for spray painting. it is really hard to mask concave/convex areas with masking tape. i tried painting them with a brush but my hand is too unsteady and the paint isn't solid and flat looking like spray paint.
