craftgrrl | Brainstorming: Tube into Skirt

I have a big boxy shirt made of pretty woven fabric that is clearly supposed to have grown up to be a skirt instead (dip-dyed with the darkest color at the top!). I've taken the sleeves off and am ready to start skirtifying it, but have now realized I'm not sure how I want to do it. The easiest way would be to put elastic all the way 'round, but that's often not flattering on curvy girls. Smooth in the front, elastic in the back would be an option, as would darts and a zip, but I'm not sure I like either of those for this.
What strategies am I failing to think of?
