birthday idea help!

hey kids! so my boyfriend's birthday is coming up soonish, and i have this really cool idea for a crafty present to make him but i need your guys' expertise.

idea: i want to buy a comic book (something with a male and female character in it), take pictures of the two of us making different facial expressions, cut out the heads, and glue our heads onto the character's heads - so it's like a comic book of us. i also wanted to glue something over all the text and write a quirky, funny story instead of the normal one.

heres where i need your help though - what comic book has a male and female character? where can i go to get cheap comic books in decent condition? should i print out the pictures/text on photo paper or regular paper? what type of glue would be best to use to glue the pictures/text into the comic book?

i was also thinking, just to make it look cleaner and more .. i dont know .. legit? i could glue the new pics and text and then cut out all of the pages, get color copies of them, and rebind them together somehow. would that be just extra unnecessary work? i dont know, ive never done this kinda thing before.
