I was in a bad mood last night.
I chose to be productive with my destructive desires and, inspired by this post, I decided to try carving a peach pit.
I started off by cleaning it. I eat my peaches when they're still a little stiff, so it was totally easy to do. And then, I studied the shape of the pit, and this one actually had a very appealing design that was begging to be cut from it.

I carved it while watching two episodes of "Band of Brothers" and steaming about the reason I was moody. Then, when I was finished, I boiled it to get all the pieces of carvings out of it. Then I used black paint to give it a more aged look, then washed it so the surface was brown again. I haven't sealed it with a matte polyurethane yet, but I'm going to today.
I'm really pleased with it, despite the fact that I cracked one of the teeth accidentally. It gives it a little flair. Don't you think?
