I don't see a lot of household-related projects on here, but I've been busy making my new apartment match my style, which requires plenty of DIY. This is my xmas-light lamp, and skateboard deck shelf!
The lamp used to be this horrible gold monstrosity with an enormous off-white shade. I sprayed the base a high-gloss black, and used one of those lightbulb-to-plug converters they sell for doing outdoor lighting to plug in two strands of white christmas lights. The light strands are wound in a ball around the harp, and I can turn it on/off with the light's switch- it looks pretty goofy off, but for fire-safety sake I don't leave it on when I'm not in the room.

(Yes, the table is made from a beer keg. I had a party at my old place right before I moved, and never got around to returning the keg.)

I found this old skateboard deck outside my parents' house about a year ago, but never really got around to doing much with it. I finally got my ass over to home depot and picked up some metal brackets, and recruited my fiance to help me find the wall studs:) Rather than dealing with bolts/nuts on the deck itself, I just superglued the wood to the brackets. It seems to be working so far! It makes a great bookshelf/dump yer crap on the way in the door shelf.

I also have a coat rack made from the trunk of this past Christmas's tree, but no decent photos of it:P Anyone have any inspiring DIY ideas I can jack?

I will never ever make another multi-strand necklace in my whole life. I love how it came out to death, but OH GOD SO MANY FUCKING BEADS.
