I Made a Prom Dress too!
Jul. 12th, 2008 08:14 pmStory time!!! (Don't worry, it's short)
I was sitting in English one day when my friend plopped down in the desk next to me and moaned "kaaaattt, design a prom dress for me! I can't find any that I like (or something along those lines)".
"I can make it."
"REALLY?!?"
"yeah, sure. I'm not really doing anything else for the next three months".
AND SO...

It's based off of this pattern (because it was my first time making formal wear and I was afraid to freehand completely).
We didn't like the way it curved like a halter top, so I altered it to be straighter like a sweetheart cut. I also added the ribbon accents to spice it up (by request). It's a good combination of classic prom elegance (senior prom!) and her individual style (oh! her mom's wishes were incorporated too, which is why the back isn't quite as dramatic as she would have liked).
Also I'm pretty sure that I re-did those darts about 10 times. So notice and love them.
What do you think?
EDIT: Thanks for all of the comments!!! All of the support and constructive criticism is greatly helpful and very much appreciated.
