Hallo, all--
First, let me just say that this community is TEH AWESOME, and I hope to start showing off my craftiness sometime soon.
But until then, I have a question.
I have been searching this community (tags/memories/LJseek) and several other LJ related communities, made several Google searches, etc, etc. What am I trying to find?
A free, not-too-complicated pattern/tutorial on making a 1940s era bra. I am specifically looking for that bullet-point silhouette made famous by the WWII pinup girls.
The best that I've found is documentation on VintageSewing.info, but I don't know if my skill is up to the task of making a bra from these instructions. I've read them both, and there is either not enough information for my comfort level, or it involves drafting a pattern, which I've never done...
Does anyone here have any idea where I might find such a thing? Either actual patterns/tutorials online, either to make a bra from scratch or re-purpose an existing bra? (I've seen so many that didn't work.) Or which LJ community would be the best to approach? Or even if you can help me with the links I already found. I have a limited amount of time, about a month, so I didn't want to spend too much more time looking for this.
If all else fails, I own a bra that has similar line, but I really wanted to find something that would give me that pointy-bullet silhouette. *g* And yes, I have looked for existing bras, but I have ::ahem:: sizing issues (I'm a pretty big woman) and funding issues. While I have found several 40s era bras that I could take apart to make a pattern, it irritates me to spend $20-$30 on an undergarment that I will just take apart for costumes that I will probably only wear for a weekend. Especially when I'm already a little short on cash, and I'd rather spend that to make the costumes look fabulous. Also when everything I've read is that making bra patterns from scratch or enlarging an existing pattern is stated as très difficile, y'know?
Hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance!
And on a completely different topic-- who puts things in the tags/memories? The original poster, a mod for this community, who? Is there any tagging/memory labeling protocol that should be followed? I don't have a problem with tagging my own posts, but I didn't want to mess up a system, should one exist. :-) Thanks again!
