Oodles and gobs of crafts!
Oct. 2nd, 2008 10:42 amHey everyone,
It's been a while since I showed anything off, so I thought I'd do a little post with a variety of things.
First up is a sock monkey:

Guarding my computer. And here he is in the most undignified of poses:

He was for a swap and was the first (and only) I've ever made. I'm still learning to be friends with my sewing machine. The biggest lesson I learned from him is to remember to put down the presser foot. Seriously, I can't seem to make myself do that!
Next is some of my amateur metalwork:

My boss thought it was a Band Aid at first, lol.

It's a piece of copper that I stamped a design into, formed, and rounded the edges. Here's a close-up of that:

And next is my first -- and again only -- button fairy, also for a swap:

Here's her pretty face:

I only have one really crappy shot of this, but I've started making fun little rings out of flat-backed marbles, paper, and ring blanks. I'm keeping this one:

This picture was taken with a bad camera, so I'm sorry the detail is lost. I handcut the little heart out of paper, though. I'm really getting into that. I have high hopes for larger pendants with gardens and fishtank scenes, all handcut. We'll see.
Next up is a little cell phone charm that I think is cute:

And my biggest achievement of late has been making rosaries. I'm not Catholic, but I've always loved them. I think they're so spiritually moving even if you're not a church-goer. Here's the first one I did:

Close-up on the cross and center section:

That's it! Thanks for looking, everyone!
