Comic Con Crafting
Oct. 13th, 2008 03:09 pmI made a couple of things for the con this weekend.
I made a skirt out of a vintage Return of the Jedi bedsheet I found at a thrift store.

I used stretchy cotton to make a simple waistband, but I might add in a zipper.

I also made a Mario bag to donate to the art auction. The proceeds went to an organization called the Hero Initiative, which helps comic artists in need. It sold!

The front flap.
the Nintendo controller sewn on to the strap.

When you lift the flap...

It's-a me! Mario!
The inside lining of the bag is red and has several pockets.
I had a lot of fun at the con, and there were some amazing costumes. I was working, which is why I only made the skirt (which I got a lot of comments on, a few from people who had had those sheets when they were kids). I also had a lot of fun making the Mario bag, the lining is from a bedsheet as well, which also has images from the Legend of Zelda, so there'll be more video-game bags in the future.
Thanks for looking :)
