So, a little while ago I found two barbies in a charity shop for a pound each. And then I found a 'fashion doll' in woolworths for another pound. And I bought them all, and schemed.
I've just finished modding the fashion doll, who I have named Alis. She is now ostensibly a clockwork doll, colored antique gold with copper hair, facial features, and wiring, brass rivets, and a brass key in her back. (Which does turn, but does not make her do anything, sadly.) I was aiming for a bit of a steampunky feel.

The copper wiring is around her knees and on her hips and upper arms. You can't tell very well from these pictures, but there's a bit of copper paint at the end of each wire to make it look soldered.

Closer up so you can see her face...I was thinking of adding lines down the chin like on a ventriloquist dummy. (Thoughts?) Also, as you can see a bit at the shoulders, there's issues with the paint being rubbed off at the joints. Kind of annoying.

Progress pic - this is a more accurate representation of her coloring. (Except of the hair, obviously!)

I'm very happy with this project, total cost was about five pounds not counting paints and brushes which I had lying around anyway. I do want to apply some kind of sealant to her though. Any suggestions? I was thinking about maybe just spraying her with clear spray paint.
Next up, something a bit more witchy.
