Infant Costume Help
Oct. 14th, 2008 10:23 amI had no intention of dressing up our 6 week old son this year for Halloween. Well, my husband just forwarded me an email from his office manager inviting all the new babies in the office to the annual pie contest on Halloween. There has been a baby boom in his office over the past year or so, so she wants to have a costume contest in addition to the pie contest.
The main problem is that I am on maternity leave, and will not get another paycheck this year, so money is extremely tight. I already feel like we're really splurging just on the pie ingredients (I'm making a dark chocolate pumpkin pie). I really have no intention of going out and buying a costume this year just for this.
What are some great easy and creative costume ideas that I can make with what I have?
He has plain white onesies that I can alter with paint, fabric pens, or fabric (I have lots of fabrics). He also has a solid brown onesie that I'd rather not alter permanently, solid sky blue, sage, and oatmeal colored ones as well. He has solid brown, sky blue, and navy blue pants. He may have other pants, but I'd have to look, haha. It's been too hot here for him to even wear pants, so I'm not sure what I have tucked away.
I don't have any sort of makeup/face paint, but I could get some if I need to black the tip of his nose or draw on a mustache or anything. I could spend $5-$10 on supplies if needed, but no more than that.
My husband's idea was to dress him up like daddy, since everyone says he takes after him. In that case, we'd need thick glasses and a beard. Any suggestions for how to best do those, if we go that way? I'll include a picture of my husband for reference,

And here's our son, Marshall:

Thanks so much, and I'll be sure to post pictures of what we come up with!
Oh! His name is Marshall, but his nickname is Mars, if that inspires any creativity. Thanks!
