Repainted Coffee Table!
Oct. 25th, 2008 05:29 amMy coffee table had been really ugly for a long time - last time I painted it, I just used the colors I had around, which were essentially hospital green and sunset yellow, so that was one issue. Also, I had made the poor choice of coating it with Modge-Podge, hoping that it would protect the surface and make it easier to clean.. not the best decision. The surface ended up really tacky, and eventually it had bits of paper sticking all over it, and ashes embedded in the surface. Ew.

So, I finally got around to repainting it! I think it looks quite lovely this time around, if I do say so myself =D Sorry about the bad lighting in the photo, I was too lazy to bust out the tripod. The colors are a bit off, especially in the detail shot, but the shape is accurate. Essentially, it's various shades of blue-green.
It's not quite done - I need to add several more layers of polyurethane before the surface is protected enough to use - but I'm being a good girl and sanding the surface between every coat, so it should come out nicely. I messed up a bit at first with the polyurethane spray... my first coat was too think, and it streaked a bit, but I'm hoping it'll even out if I put on enough thin, even coats. What do you think, any thoughts?
