So, I'm attempting to come up with a reasonably last-minute costume and what I really want is to make Luna moth wings.
In the past I have seen some marvelous sites with instructions for making realistic wings but I can't find any now. Usually the best as I recall were people who made their own wings for sale but recognized that other people also love making their own and they generously shared their basic ideas. I'm looking for a realistic slightly earthy 'tattered' feel to mine, not your standard cheery "fairy" wings. One of the best sites I've found is http://www.squidoo.com/fairywings, and if you scroll down next to the section where she talks about "Types of Wings" there is actually a half-shot of Luna moth wings as a graphic on the right - that's exactly what I'm looking to make, but like I said, perhaps a bit more earthy. I was thinking I might put a top frame and let the bottom section of the wing just hang down, for instance. I'm going to be in a pretty crowded place so I don't want a broad wingspan either.
I'm also looking for ideas on how to attach them and what fabrics to use. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I did look in the memories and there are some fairy wing entries but most of the links are gone/broken, sadly.
