Today someone wanted a tutorial on the two smaller 8x8 scrapbooks I made.
These were store bought from Hobby Lobby I only filled them up with scrapbook things I already had.
I thought about it for a minute when I was posting back to her... and I remembered this

A couple years ago I made a small scrapbook out of brown paper bags for a girl friend. She has 4 children  ages from 12 to nearly 3. She rarely takes 0 photos of her children and has no interest in crafting it just isn't her thing. She does like things I make so I thought I would make her a smallish scrapbook because I had oodles of photos of her kids.

While I didn't take photos of it as I wasn't a member of any community back then. I made a ton of them for my daughters 9th birthday last year so the little girls would have a craft to do. Out of the many girls that we invited I think we only had about 5 little girls show up. (mostly due to it being on a weekend and quite a few go to dad's house or grandparents on weekends)

These are the ones I have left. These would make great gifts for any little girl 7 and up.... as well as modified for adults.  Remember bags look super cute in brown paper or white. ( sprayed mine with the acid free stuff before I started.)

This was mostly cutting work, I used anything I had on hand including to Susan Branch calendars I cut up,
I wanted to have a ton of things out for them so they felt free to use anything they wanted. I asked their moms to send photos that could be used in scrapbooks explaining that they would bring home the books but xerox copies would be great as to not ruin or damage the originals. (which is also why I think we had a low turn out moms simply didnt want to have to do anything extra and some moms only have just school photos. that is it.
I made sure though that I told the kids that they could add more photos at home later. I think only 2 girls actually brought photos with them.

Supplies needed bags any size or color will do, scissors, card stock and or scrapbook SCRAPS or any Scrapbook paper, stickers, and more scraps, ribbon, buttons, anything. Add as many photos as you want, journal out in the open or hide it in the "secret" pockets.

cut off the bottom flap of the bags use as many or as few bags as you need remember  each bag makes two pages giving you 4 sides, PLUS inner pockets that can hold extra card stock for more photos stickers or journaling or even more tiny hidden pockets for storing locks of hair the pull tab off your can of pop, The ticket stub from the movie or a photo of a class mate. These have loads of room.

stack the bags together as many as you like!

fold in half evenly then hole punch a couple holes along the edge for your "binding"

tie a couple ribbons in each hole the more the merrier.

add some scrapbook paper

or a couple scrapbook papers

an added pocket to make you smile or even hide a dollar bill

add some photos from the day you had icecream after the soccer game

class mates photos or a journal tag, favorite quote or poem,

cute cropped photos or stickers

foamies and a "coupon"  good for one trip to McDonalds or even a coupon for a free happy meal
or just an extra boarder.
you can make them seasonal too
make one for your boy friend or your dad out of brown paper bag they have tons of paper geared for men these days. Include coupons for a free home cooked meal  a car wash or even a lottery ticket or two.  make it larger and it could hold a gift card. I hung tags on the outsides of my little insert pages and even file tabs like the ones that go on office folders. Do one for 12 grades of school for the graduate, do one from your last vacation, your neighbors cat. All the places you have lived since you were born. Leave them blank and give them to your 12 year old twin nieces with a envelope full of ribbon stickers and scraps you dont want they can make their own scrapbooks.
