This was a crafty year for me, and I didn't stop at Halloween. I made costumes for my husband and I.

Here we are. Aren't we precious? My husband went as Unicow from Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show. He bought the bottom part but discarded the lame cow headpiece. I made a new headpiece from a big white towel, felt, and ribbon. The mane and tie were made with curly giftwrap ribbons.

My costume was inspired from a trip to Ralph's. Near the entrance of the store, there was a rack of random costumes, including sparkly pink rider unicorns for little girls. My brain, being a festering sore of wrongness, went into overdrive. I'm going to hell, but I'm having fun on the way.

Here's the full getup. I had to alter the sides of the rider unicorn because I'm much larger than a little girl. I only had to cut it in half and sew on fabric to expand. I had extra kid's fabric from an earlier project. Then I used felt and embroidery thread to sew on an expression of horror and pain on the poor thing. I had saved a huge amount of strap from a quilt I had bought from Target. I used it to make straps since the original straps were way short. Then I used white-out to make the eyes milky, and fake blood because putting a big girl on a teeny unicorn made for a little girl is going to cause a horrific amount of damage. I topped it off with my wedding tiara and I was a pretty pretty princess.

I think I'm going to cut off the head and mount it on a plaque for my office.
