Have Yourself a Viking Metal Christmas!
Dec. 20th, 2008 07:38 pmHere is a little back story as to the reason WHY this is such an awesome gift
...'Cuz, really, it's awesome.
My boyfriend is a huge metal head. One of his fave bands is Amon Amarth. So he bought tickets to go see them in San Fransisco. Then comes the week of the show and he had to be sent to the hospital for gallstones. Needless to say that he was in too much pain to go. We had planned this trip for about a month, and I didn't want to let down my friends who I'd promised I'd visit in San Fransisco. He said he'd be alright on his own, and he didn't want the tickets to be wasted. So, even thought I loath this particular band, I went & took my friend
nux_vomica .
We endured the show until about five mins till it was over, when my friend told me we needed to go to the front to get an autograph for my boyfriend. When the set had ended we watched as each member of the band descended down to stairs, ignoring our cries for an autograph. Then there was only one member left to go down, Johan Hegg, the vocalist of the group. Then we both started screaming at him for an autograph trying to explain that my boy was in the hospital and couldn't come. Then he stoped his decent and made a motion for us to hand him whatever it is we had for him to sign. Then it hit us....WE DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING... Then, my friend, being BRILLIANT, rememberd her shopping list, and handed that to him to sign. He leaned up against the wall, signed, passed it back, and dissapeared. As far as I know, it was the only San Fransisco autograph.
I decided that instead of just giving it to him, I should save it to do something crafty with it for Christmas. After some thought, and inspiration from a couple of other friends, I came up with this......

This is my first Shadow Box. Sorry about the poor quality webcam photo.
I found a shadow box at the salvation army for around a dollar, and added an image to a wooden plaque that I had painted black, put chain around it, then placed the autograph under it.
