Feb. 11th, 2009 10:13 pmHey everybody!
I recently discovered that my new city is overflowing with great thrift stores. My only problem is: how do I wash yarn?
I recently bought one ball of 100% wool, and two balls of 75% wool 25% nylon. They're all with original labels and are in great condition, but I like to wash all my thrift finds before wearing them especially near my face since I have really sensitive skin. I sometimes buy cotton and unidentified yarns, too, so general instructions on how to get massive mystery yardage clean without tangling would be extremely helpful.
Thanks a lot!
Oh, and so that this isn't text-only, here is a picture of a scarf I made for my best friend using Jan Eaton's Soft Wave Ripple. The pattern is easy to memorize and it looks really good, IMHO. I'm always so surprised how much faster crochet can be than knitting, too! Great last minute gift.
