my 2009 Journal
Mar. 8th, 2009 09:35 pmI've been working so much that I haven't had a chance to post images of my new journal. So today is the day. I made it right before the end of the year and was so busy, I didn't get a chance to work in it until mid-February. Here's what it looks like along with what I've done in it so far.

The front has old lace and letters embedded in it.

The back has old lace embedded in it. And both front and back are covered with glitter glue, although it's hard to tell from the picture. Anyone who knows me knows I am the glitter glue poster child.

This is a close-up of the front. You can see the lace and the glitter glue really well. What a find the old lace was.

The binding was a little hard to do because I had to sew two signatures in at the same time to get the design. But I really like it.

Like my last journal, I filled it with a variety of different paper that I like to work on: braille pages, rosin paper, watercolor paper, old pages from kid's books, etc. I like having a mix, and having them different sizes. It makes it more interesting for me to work on.

This is the first spread that I did mid-February. The left side is the inside cover of the book. The stars were confetti left over from a workshop, so I decided to glue them on and trap them under tissue paper. I really like the effect. For the past year, I've been into embedding things for some reason into my work.

The picture on the left was one of the photos I took of me and Ruby during my photo shoot for Studios Magazine. Pictures of my studio (along with me and Ruby) will be in their summer issue!

This spread I did to try to distract myself from my intense neck and head pain I was feeling that day. I try to pretend like my neck is okay, but it obviously isn't. It had been doing well, but I think from working so hard, and having to look down to do all of the work aggravated it.
