i went to my dad's house to look at the sewing machines he has (he collects random things and has a ton of them) because it seemed the most popular response was for me to go and get a refurbished machine. so here is what i am taking to have looked at when this horrid storm is over.
they all need to be cleaned up and have parts replaced.
this is my favorite! dad estimates it is probably a 70's model.
he believes this one is a 40's model
this one is possibly a 20's model
and not sure about this one. it says "domestic" on the side and has a knee pump
all the years are guesses. my dad encouraged me to sell them to get a better machine but i would be perfectly happy, if it was reasonable, to pay to have one (or all) fixed. we know that the last two work but need replacement parts. the other two are missing power cords and also need some replacement parts. i am about to call around to get estimates and see how much it would cost to simply have someone LOOK at them.
:) i am excited and hope this works out to my advantage.
