Lots of baked stuff
Apr. 5th, 2009 02:45 pmThere was a recent sell on cake mixes and frosting at Safeway, something like buy 3 get 3 free. So every other week my husband and I have been making cupcakes and minicakes.
Our most recent cakes were a set of 3 carrot cakes decorated with green cream cheese frosting to look like hills. They were going to be covered with jelly beans as easter eggs but as an after thought I liked them better as a hobbit hole.

I love these sprinkles: sharks, sea horses, sea lions, dolphins and tropical fish

Sharks, fish and sea turtles.

These are from when I got together with some friends and we all made cupcakes inspired by the Hello Cupcake book: http://blog.hellocupcakebook.com/

The noodles are frosting, the meatball is the top of a minicupcake and the sauce is strawberry jam.

These are from Valentine's Day, yellow cake with strawberry frosting.

My friend and I made mini cakes out of fimo clay to make into rings and necklaces.

Hers are yellow cake with blueberries.

Mine were inspired by AP's Sugary Carnival, although I should have made the colors lighter:

They even have glitter frosting, to be even more OTT.

I left some untextured so you could see the swirls better.
