I went out last week and bought a drop spindle. So far I have had some success! I found myself today with a full spindle and absolutely no idea what to do with it! So, I went to the Masters (aka: Gram and Great Gram) for a lesson and they both said: "You need a Lazy Kate!" I know a fair share of lazy Kates, so this baffled me for a minute until Great Gram went and found one of hers. After unwinding the spindle, I decided that I needed my own, so I went over to my Mother's house (yes, multi-generational crafties unite!) and helped myself to some power tools while I was doing my laundry.

This is the result...

Material: A piece of  scrap pine, two screws, a drill press, a band saw, some sand paper, a dowel, a BIG BEAD and wire to hold it on. The Bead on the end might be temporary as I think it's too big for the dowel, and I don't want to have the dowel popping out while I'm plying the yarn.

Yay!
