hello all! i just love this community! i have been stalking it for a few years, and i decided to get my own livejournal, so i could post my newest project.
while i don't feel terribly comfortable giving out my real name, you can call me em. and no, it's not short for emily. i have been crafting since i was 18 so about 6 years now and i love to scrapbook, knit and sew. when my bf comes back into town, i will try to post some pictures of the scrapbook i made him, since it's pretty much the only whole scrapbook i have finished.
but i digress. i recently took the sewing 101 class at joann fabrics, and was so happy with the way my pillowcase turned out! i was expecting to go over things like patterns more, but i feel comfortable with a sewing machine now (which was my goal in the first place, i'm 24 ... far too old to be afraid of a sewing machine!) i picked out this super cute (and clearance!) owl fabric for the base, and a coordinating green for the edge. i made it for my friend who is in love with owls. here are the pictures! (sorry about the crap quality, i need a new camera.)

this is the whole thing lying on my floor. sorry it's blurry!

close-up of the owl fabric, the dark green edging matches almost perfectly to the darkest green leaves.

this is meant to be a close up of my stitching. i am still beaming with pride at how straight i was able to get it! the green is a little washed out, but you get the point.
i am moving in a few months, so i am trying not to spend any more money on crafts, but it's so hard! thanks for letting me share my project! you are all truly inspiring!
